Many times we humans do not realize that a simple change for us can be a bit more unnerving to a dog. These sessions are discussion only. They serve to provide you with the guidance and knowledge to properly address your specific need and to make transitions as smooth and positive as possible.
Puppy Education
A RIGHT START ensures a GREAT FINISH
ALL puppies, will at some time, make us question WHY?? I'll help you be prepared to handle these times lovingly, patiently and effectively, may be even humorously.
I will discuss with you how puppies learn, as well as what to expect from your puppy in each stage of growth. We will set up a plan on establishing your leadership, setting up rules & boundaries, housebreaking, socialization, basic leash manners and problem prevention.
Since puppies grow and change quickly, both physically and emotionally, more than one session may be needed.
In-Home Private
Lines of communication a bit frazzled between you and your dog? Not sure who's really in charge? Behavior concerns developing or escalating? Just need some basic training?
At your home, we will discuss in detail, your overall goals for your dog along with any immediate concerns. I will go over basic canine psychology and the importance of leadership, rules, boundaries and obedience. After evaluating your dog, a training plan and schedule will be set up to help you achieve your goals in a calm, positive and expedient manner. We will work through the training plan together to ensure that you can properly and confidently execute it and that all communication is clearly understood. I recommend that all members of your household be present if possible.
Additional sessions can be arranged to restructure plan, work on new goals or behaviors, or to further your dog's obedience skills.
Semi-Private / Small Group
Have friends, relatives, neighbors with dogs? Want to form your own pack?
These groups are a great way to further the bond between friends and relatives or to start a new friendship with a neighbor.
Sessions can be held at your homes, your neighborhoods or local parks. We will work on developing strong stable canine social skills, walking as a pack and basic obedience. If desired, we will work on establishing productive and safe play sessions between the dogs on neutral ground and/or in your homes.
2-5 dogs; 3-4 sesseions.
BONUS: Need a sitter while you're out of town? Work interfering with dog's daily walks and training? No need to hire a walker or bring your dog to Day Care. Your new pack's human members can take over these roles. You can relax and be stress free knowing your dog is safe, secure, happy and under control.
Therapy Dog Program
Step 1
- Preview:
- Explanation of what the program involves
- Basic requirements (ie: grooming, medical, age of dog, obedience commands and behaviors needed)
- Set up Tag-a-Long visit where you can observe a certified therapy dog at work
Step 2
- If you decide to have your dog apply for work:
- I will work with you and your dog on behaviors and obedience required by the program.
- When ready, you and your dog will attend a 'group' class for further training.
- Get your dog ready for, and take the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test.
- Meet/work with therapy program manager at hospital and be part of a most invaluable endeavor.
